How many of you have a baby brother or sister? Don’t they believe with their whole heart that they are the Superman of our world! They conquer ants, imaginary ninjas and nap time with tenacity.
They are so filled with a drive to attack the world head-on. They sprint up dirt mounds and keep going long after the big kids and grown-ups have become tired. It reminded of Paul’s letter to the people of Ephesus, Ephesians 6:10-20:
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes…Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God… Pray that I may declare the mystery of the gospel fearlessly, as I should.”
What Paul is talking about is simple, we need to clothe ourselves with God’s armor every day. Each morning we need to wake up, give up our desires of the flesh and pick up our cross. We need to be fearless in the world. If what we are doing is for and of the Lord, He will fight the battles for us. Who wants to fight God? Satan cringes at the thought of God’s mighty power, surely his demons are just as terrified.
Our prayer for today: God, help me to put on your armor every day. Help me to be like a small child wanting to take over the world with your truth. Fill me with the confidence to declare your world and the conquer of evils bigger than myself. Give me the energy of a child to serve your people. Help me die to the world and be alive in you.
Have tenacity in Christ today…
